Biological Treatment of Industrial Effluents Using Novel Biofilm-Membranes

 

One Senior Research Fellow position and one full-time PhD scholarship are available to work on a project funded by The Leverhulme Trust at Canterbury Christ Church University. This is an exciting multi-disciplinary project that aims to develop a proof-of-concept, sustainable and environment-friendly process for treating industrial effluents using novel biofilms as membranes. This work will also pioneer a new view of biofilms as potentially useful, biodegradable and renewable materials.

 

Senior Research Fellow

Salary: £33,797 per annum
Contract Length: Fixed term contract until July 2023

The Senior Research Fellow will be part of an exciting international collaboration and will work full time on the project to design, plan and execute experiments related to growth and structural, chemical and mechanical characterisation of biofilms.

PhD Scholarship

Applications Close: 31 May 2020
Salary: £14,777 per annum
Contract Length: Fixed term contract until July 2023

The PhD for this project will also focus on identifying other potential applications of biofilms that could lead to future projects/collaborations. Applicants should hold a Masters degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemical Engineering or other related areas.
