Virustatic Vacancy: Senior Technical Manager

Virustatic are seeking to fill a full-time position but part time and flexible working options will be considered. The successful candidate will be required to mainly work in the office at Alderley Park, with occasional travel potential for external projects and meetings with relevant academics and project partners. Virustatic are offering an attractive renumeration package, dependant on candidate’s knowledge and experience.

Contract type: Full time permanent, with a six month probationary period. Please note that the team are open to part time/flexible working requests.

Salary: Dependent on experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and lead laboratory and test methods and schedules on products in accordance with relevant standards, regulations and accreditations.
  • Oversee collaborative partnerships, and a range of consortia working on specific projects.
  • Lead product development, verification and commercialisation of new products based on their technology.
  • Provide scientific expertise on their products for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Technical Director to develop new – and improve existing – products
  • Support with technical detail required for bid writing and project design
  • Inputting technical details to patent and funding applications
  • Interpreting regulations and considering other factors when looking at new sectors and countries to work with
  • Reviewing academic literature and writing literature reviews and papers for publication
  • Preparing and presenting summaries of work and project updates to the Board
  • Any other duties commensurate with the role and in the organisation’s best interest

Virustatic are looking to expand their team with an experienced, highly motivated and ambitious scientist with a strong industrial leaning to become a key figure in the company. The successful candidate will lead their technical team and be at the nexus of their international consortium of scientists and partners who are working towards realising Virustatic’s ambitious objectives.

Virustatic are looking for someone who can comfortably work in a role with differing projects and demands ongoing at the same time. They will have relevant scientific qualifications (PhD) and a specialism (or specific interest) in either soft matter science, protein science, virology, microbiology or similar discipline, and experience in industrial applications of innovative ideas. This role works closely with (and reports to) the Technical Director, and alongside the Development Director and Projects Lead.
